In conclusion, this is 100% doable! I don’t know if I’d call this a studio-grade recording, but it’s certainly not that far off. The second takeaway is that I really like the Harp Blaster as a guitar amp mic, I’m going to suggest to sE’s higher-ups that we develop a mic clip for it! No acoustic treatment whatsoever. I even had the windows open! While the V7 has a famously tight polar pattern, the VR1’s Figure-8 polar pattern could’ve conceivably captured quite a bit of room sound. My biggest takeaway is how effectively the RF SPACE can isolate a source from its surroundings. The entire session took me 3 hours! That includes planning, set up, taking photos, playing the parts, and fumbling with GarageBand after not using it in nearly a decade. The reverb you hear is my guitar amp’s spring reverb, and whatever is designed into the Classic Analog Pad synth patch. No compression, no delays or reverbs, etc. For the sake of keeping things barebones and accessible, the only audio processing I used was GarageBand’s built-in Parametric EQ.
